U.S. Oil has a fully permitted wastewater treatment facility, which is allowed to discharge treated effluent into the Blair Waterway through an NPDES permit issued by the Washington State Department of Ecology. This permit also allows for the discharge of stormwater runoff as well as clean water discharges from activities such as equipment hydrotests and fire water system testing. Compliance with permit limits is demonstrated through the use of a comprehensive testing program.
U.S. Oil's fully accredited laboratory performs literally hundreds of tests each year on the treated wastewater that is discharged from the facility in accordance with the requirements of the NPDES Permit. U.S. Oil's wastewater treatment system continues to perform exceptionally well as evidenced by the fact that in all the wastewater sampling and testing that has been performed since 1991, there have been only three permit exceedances, each of which was for suspended solids.
